A DAREDEVIL fundraiser will take on a skydive that she hopes will raise hundreds of pounds for a charity close to her heart.
Jane Roach says that she has been inspired to jump from nearly 12,000 feet because three of her family members are currently battling cancer.
She hopes to raise cash for charity Leukaemia Busters, who are working towards finding a cure for leukaemia.
Jane’s uncle, Stuart, is currently undergoing a bone marrow transplant after suffering from leukaemia. Her step-uncle, Richard, is currently battling lung cancer and her mother-in-law, Sue, tackled bowel cancer seven years ago, only to have it spread to other parts of her body recently.
Jane said, “There’s nothing anyone can do when you hear a family member has cancer. So I’m just trying to do what I can in terms of raising cash for charity.
“I wanted to do something that would grab people’s attention and I thought a parachute jump is quite extreme and could help raise funds.
“I’ve always wanted to do a skydive and felt inspired to do so because of what my family are going through.
“I’ve raised around £400 at the moment, but to raise as much as possible is my goal.”
Jane will take the plunge at South Coast Skydive in Salisbury on Saturday 28th of July. You can sponsor her by visiting www.justgiving.com/Jane-Roach2 or by texting VMJV91 £(plus your amount) to 70070.
