Residents flocked to Victoria Park recently for the Frome Carnival Family Funday, which was held on Saturday 19th July.
There were all the usual carnival fun day favourites, including ice cream, performances from local groups, a bonniest baby competition and over 30 stalls for residents to browse and learn more about what Frome has to offer.
This year’s carnival royalty was also selected and crowned ahead of the main carnival event on 20th September.
The new carnival royalty is Princess Mia Rogers, Princess Jasmine Clayton, Ambassador Leeandra Toop, Prince Riley O’Loughlin, Princess Azarsa Toop and Princess Jessica Buckland.
The funday, which was originally due to take place in June but was cancelled due to stormy weather, is a staple in the carnival team’s calendar as it raises essential funds for September’s carnival procession.
“We are so thankful and grateful to everyone who came to join us on the day and for the money donated,” said one of the organisers, Mandy Morgan. “We were lucky that the rain held off for most of the day on the Saturday.”
A key part of the day is the annual bonniest baby competition. Winners in the 0 to 9 months category were: first place, Bodhi; second place, Nellie; and third place, Dotti.
Winners in the 10 months to over 18 months category were: first place, Teo; second place, Italia-Marie; and third place, Remi-Dee.
The much-loved dog show, which usually runs every year, was cancelled this year due to concerns about dogs being out in the hot weather.
