On October 19th, a devastating fire occurred in a block of flats in Frome causing a lot of residents to lose some, if not all of their belongings and personal effects.
Upon hearing the news of the fire, the following day, and realising that some of the people affected were regular customers of Radstock Co-operative’s Frome and Fromefield stores, staff decided to try to raise money and set about putting out collection buckets at the till points.
A spokesperson for the Society said, “Thanks to the generosity of our customers and colleagues, the combined efforts of our two stores, managed to raise a total of £522.10 which will hopefully go some way to purchasing essential items for those affected by the fire.
“As a co-operative, we endeavour to support our local communities in whatever way we can, and we encourage our colleagues to embrace and demonstrate co-operative values and principles. This is just one of the ways in which we see those values in action.”
