FROME Swimming Club is celebrating after the recent South-West Regional Championships.
Five swimmers from the club qualified for the championships, which took place across three weekends and at three different venues.
The club reports, “The first weekend saw Jonas travel to Millfield in his first regionals where he matched his 50m Breast PB.
“The following weekend Gareth, Bethan, Alisha along with coach Pete travelled to Plymouth. Club Boys’ Captain, Gareth, had a great swim and finished six places above his seeded position just shy of his PB in the 50m Free.
“Bethan, Girls’ Club Captain took on the 50m and 100m Fly along with the 50m Free and 50m Back. She had some great swims, notably the 50m free where she finished 23 places higher than her seeded position and posted a new Long Course PB.
“Alisha had a great regionals, she swam 50m Free, Back and Breast along with the 100m Breast and Back. She qualified for four finals and won a silver in the 50m Back.
“The final weekend saw Hannah travel to Bristol again for her first regional championships. She swam an amazing 1.65 sec PB and finished 18 places higher than her seeded position in the 50m Fly.
“The club is excited to announce that Alisha has qualified for the National British Championships being held in Sheffield this summer. She is ranked 6th in Britain for her age group in the 50m back.
“A huge thank you goes out to Pete, his coaching team and all the volunteers who keep the club running. We are very excited and proud of the continuing achievements of all our swimmers.”
