THE Big Spring Textile Reuse Meet Up, organised by Everyone Needs Pockets (ENP) Textile Reuse Network, is at the Town Hall on the morning of Friday 19th May and organisers will welcome anyone who is interested in sustainable textiles in Frome.
The event runs from 10am to 1.30pm including a bring your own lunch social, with free drinks and cake.
Organisers say, “We have an exciting line-up of speakers and activities, including a talk by Amelia Twine, leader of the Bristol-based Sustainable Fashion Week all about the impact of fast fashion and what we can do about it. Plus, a talk by David Birks from Trowbridge Museum talking about the area’s textile heritage. There’s also a fabric and haberdashery swap!”
The ENP network – with over 100 makers, designers, repairers and many second-hand clothes fans – will also share the current ideas for some activities in 2023 with a chance for everyone to have their input.
This free event is being hosted by Edventure’s Future Shed and ENP Textile Reuse Network as part of the Green and Healthy Frome programme on climate and health, supported by the Lottery’s Climate Action Funding.
ENP Textile Reuse Network is an inclusive network of people and enterprises whose focus and priority is about addressing clothing and textile reuse (rescue) and sustainability (repurposing, recycling).
And don’t forget that volunteers from ENP run a mend and repair your clothes session at Share ‘How To’ usually on the last Saturday of the month – the next one is on Saturday 29th April from 11.30am to 1.30pm. There are just a few places left!
