CHARITY fundraiser, Rachel Clark, is approaching the end of a decade of challenges in aid of cancer counselling charity, We Hear You (WHY), and the end of 2021’s challenge, the’10 years’ challenge, which has seen her take on a different challenge every month.
Monthly challenges this year have included skipping, random acts of kindness, burning 500 calories in one go, and a re-run of 2011’s ‘cobble wobble’ cycle challenge, the event that kickstarted Rachel’s fundraising for WHY.
During December, for the 12th and final ’10 years’ challenge, Rachel is revisiting her 2019 ‘365 for WHY’ challenge and running a mile every day.
Rachel says, “Ten years for WHY and counting! When I decided to take on a challenge for PAC, as WHY was called back then, I didn’t imagine I’d still be here a decade later, or that so many amazing people would have come on the journey with me, including the breaking of two Guinness world records!
“Revisiting the ‘365 for WHY’ challenge this month has been fantastic so far – follow ‘10 years for WHY’ on Facebook for details of where to join me for a mile every day until New Year’s Eve.
“We’ll be announcing the fundraising total in early 2022… and watch this space for the next challenge!”
Fundraising and communications manager for WHY, Gemma Wilkes said, “Rachel has been supporting our charity for longer than most of the WHY staff have been around – and she’s the gift that keeps on giving! Her tireless enthusiasm is infectious for everyone who comes into contact with her.
“She’s raised an extraordinary amount of money and also inspired so many others to support us. She’s also definitely helped lots of people who need WHY’s service to find out about us. Thank you really doesn’t cover it, but thank you Rachel, for everything!”
