POPULAR Frome-based ukulele troupe, The Frukes, are returning to the Frome Festival with a vengeance.
“For those who don’t know, the members of this loose collective of lost souls share a disconcerting fascination for small stringed instruments,” explains a spokesperson for The Frukes.
“Critics have described the Frukes in many different ways, but the words polished and professional are rarely amongst them. All, including the greatest Uke professionals in the land, agree however that their major characteristic is the word fun. They have loosely been described as similar to fast food, instantly gratifying but often leading to feelings of guilt and a strange desire for more.
“So come and share the joy on Thursday 7th July at the Vine Tree pub where in Frukee tradition the beer and cider will be flowing as the little instruments thump out tune after tune and the angelic voices sing in rapt accompaniment. It’s only a fiver for the whole night. You can book through the Cheese and Grain (Frome Festival event 720). See you there.”
