A packed Hexagon at the Assembly Rooms on Saturday 30th April brought fond memories and reunions for many at the Revival Night with everyone entering into the spirit of what was a really successful event.
The founder of the Hexagon back in the seventies, Derek James, made an appearance and was delighted to be back at the venue after so many years.
Also taking a trip down memory lane was Pete Lippiatt, who was the DJ on the final night of the Hexagon prior to it’s closing. The organisers were so pleased that they were able attend the Revival. There was every imaginable 80’s themed costume from Trolls to Hi de Hi Yellow Coats and Madonna lookalikes to name but a few.
Pete Dayman Johns provided the nonstop 80s disco, keeping the dance floor packed from the moment people arrived and the catering and bars were managed by resident caterer James Morrison.
The event was sold out soon after it was announced, unfortunately leaving many disappointed, but following the success of the evening, there is now a huge demand for more Hexagon nights in the future.
Proceeds from the Revival will go to the Memorial Theatre Restoration Fund; the current project is to replace the theatre’s ageing and ailing boilers in time for the autumn.
Following such positive feedback and listening to requests and suggestions on the night, The Hexagon will be back for a “Summer Lovin, 70s/80s Disco” on June 4th. Contact the theatre box office on 01373 462795 or check the website: www.fromememorialtheatre.org.uk for tickets.
