Frome’s Daniel Weston has made a winning debut at the Saltby open, in the top class of aerobatic gliding.
“The scores were kept secret till the presentation.” Daniel said, “I didn’t know the results, so winning was a shock, the Saltby open is the hardest one to win.”
His team added, “Having dominated the sports class last season and at the start of the 2019 season, Daniel moved up to the advanced class, which includes the best pilots in Britain and flying a MDM-1 Fox glider.
“Competing in the Fox is harder, as it is much faster and sharper than any other glider.
“After the first flight, the scores came in and he was in the mix. His second flight went well and other team members told him that it was really good.
“So in winning the Saltby open it makes Daniel only the third person in the sports history to have won the three major trophies.”
