WITH the summer months now just around the corner, this might be the right time to try your hand at a new sport. Frome Selwood Bowling Club, situated at the bottom end of the Mary Bailey playing field next to the tennis courts, has just started their summer season.
The club says, “Members have had a few games already with some good results, but we are always ready to welcome any new members that would like to try the game of bowls. The club has a few open days coming up this month, the first on Monday 13th May from 3pm to 5pm, then Monday 20th May at the same time with another open day on Saturday 25th May from 10.30am to 3pm.
“If you have thought of a new venture then perhaps now is the right time. Please come along and try your hand at a very gentle exercising sport. Age is no barrier, you are never too young to take up the game; we welcome all ages and all genders as equals.
“Just turn up on one or more of the dates and you will be made welcome. All you need will be provided such as bowls and coaching. All we ask is you wear a flat pair of closed shoes. If you cannot make any of these dates but are still interested let the secretary know and he will try to arrange a convenient time for you to come along.
“The club has a very well-stocked bar with soft drinks as well as alcoholic ones, or even tea or coffee. So, after trying your hand at the game there will be a chance to sit back and relax with like-minded people.”
