FROME welcomed 90 visitors from its twin towns recently, who made the journey to take part in the SWITCH alternative energy conference earlier this month.
As part of the conference organised by Frome Town Council and Frome Twinning Association, Frome welcomed visitors from twin towns Château-Gontier, France; Murrhardt, Germany and Rabka-Zdroj, Poland.
The conference was the third in a series of four conferences in each of the twin towns supported by funding from the European Union.
Arranged through the Twinning Association, many Frome residents and members of the Twinning Association showed their hospitality by hosting French and German visitors in their homes for three nights.
Association vice-chairman Justin Worringham said, “Many thanks go to these generous people without whom this event would not have been possible. Two of the hosts even took part as translators for parts of the conference.
“Damon Hooton from the Twinning Association and a former town councillor was a key partner in organising this conference. He was also instrumental in setting up with the other twin towns the themed project leading to this set of conferences and in obtaining EU funding, supported by Frome Town Council.”
The fourth and final conference will take place in Rabka-Zdroj in September.
