Frome’s walking festival is adding an extra day to the celebrations to fit in up to 20 different walks throughout the town and beyond, designed for all ages, interests and abilities.
After a popular and well attended event last year, Frome’s Walkers are Welcome team have chosen to extend the programme and have planned a walking extravaganza for the weekend of 9th and 10th November.
Cllr Rich Ackroyd said, “We hope anyone with a love of walking and the outdoors will join in and take part in walks that celebrate all things Frome, from the history of the town to our green spaces.
“It’s aimed at both local residents wanting to learn more about their town and visitors wanting to discover a new walking destination. The ever-popular Tunnels Tour talk will kick off the programme on Friday evening at the Town Hall”.
The first full day of the festival on Saturday 9th will see historic walks taking in the Singers Trail and uncovering Saxon Kings to ambles along the river, a pub walk for those who like to include a spot of lunch in their walks, as well as buggy and children’s walks to discover the town’s connection to Harry Potter. While Sunday will include a comedy walk, a treasure hunt, foraging and health walks and a chance to discover Frome’s heritage trees.
Frome is an official Walkers are Welcome town; just keep an eye out in local shops and businesses’ windows for the badge that lets you know that muddy boots and heavy bags are welcome.
