CANCER charity We Hear You is asking the community to boost their funds as we approach the end of 2021.
WHY’s fundraising and communications manager Gemma Wilkes says, “We’re taking tentative steps towards normality and we have high hopes for 2022. However, we’re heading for the end of another very quiet year for community fundraising, and many of the events we usually attend in the run up to Christmas aren’t running this year.
“In the meantime, we still need £5,000 every week to keep our important services running. So here are a few of the ways you can help WHY this Christmas.
Buy our Christmas cards
“We have some gorgeous designs on sale this year – all cards are £4 for a pack of 10 and available on our website, in the WHY Gallery and Hunting Raven Books in Frome.
Take part in our Santa Dash
“Join us at Frome Cricket Club on 12th December or sign up for the virtual event on Eventbrite and participate in our annual festive fun run. It’s fun, non-competitive and just a tiny bit daft!
Host a micro-event
“Invite your friends and neighbours round for a festive coffee morning, games night or cheese and wine event. Order one of our free WHY tea party packs from fundraising@wehearyou.org.uk and ask your guests to make a donation on the day.
In the office
“Skip the novelty hats and desk hoovers and encourage your colleagues to make a donation to WHY for your Secret Santa this year!
Write a letter to Santa
“Children of all ages can take advantage of WHY’s status as Official Agents of Santa. Make a £5 donation and send your letter to us at 14-15 North Parade, Frome BA11 1AU or email to fundraising@wehearyou.org.uk by 13th December and we’ll make sure the big man replies, with a sweet treat and some garden-friendly reindeer food for Christmas Eve.
Set up a regular donation
“Pledge the cost of coffee and a mince pie (insert festive treat of your choice) each month, or whatever you can afford. £4 a month pays for a counselling session a year. wehearyou.org.uk/donate
“Whatever you choose to do, we’ll put your money to excellent use. Thank you to everyone who has supported WHY in the past, present and future!”
