The WHY Gallery on Stony Street, run by Frome-based charity We Hear You, will be closing for a refit for two weeks from 21st August ahead of a relaunch on 2nd September.
The WHY Gallery first opened in September 2016. Created as ‘a charity shop with a difference’, it enlisted the talents of Frome’s community of artists, designers and makers and created an exhibition and retail space for their work, with all commission from sales going to fund We Hear You’s free professional counselling service for people affected by cancer or life-threatening conditions.
A year on, the gallery team have devised a new look and layout to improve customer experience, showcase the art in a new way and increase the money raised for We Hear You.
Manager and curator Rose Drysdale says, ‘The WHY Gallery will have a new look and feel when we reopen. The space will be divided into two distinct areas. At the front of the gallery, there will be a shop selling prints, ceramics, jewellery and textiles. The back section will be our exhibition space, hosting artists for month-long shows. Several new artists will be coming on board and we have some exciting work planned for the next few months, so be sure to come and see us once we reopen.
