ANTI-FRACKING campaigners in Frome are holding their next meeting on Tuesday 11th October at the Cheese & Grain from 7.30pm.
Frome Anti-fracking (FAF) spokesperson Anna-belle Macfadyen says, “The threat of fracking may not be so close to home now after SW Energy gave up the licences in the Westbury area, but we still need to be on the case to help keep fracking out of the UK.
“We will discussing how we can be involved in Friends of the Earth week of action against fracking 24th-29th October and there will be more information about a trip to Weston-Super-Mare on 29th October to raise awareness of fracking and publicize a film showing of Groundswell Rising in the town on November 2nd. If you know anyone in Weston do let them know about it – at Christ Church, Montpelier, Weston-super-mare BS23 2RG at 7.30pm. Free entry. (Weston currently has 7 licence areas held by fracking company SW Energy)
“And now that the Labour party has said it would ban fracking in the UK there is a sense of opposition to the industry mounting and it feels like a crucial time in terms of shifting our reliance on dirty fossil fuels and moving towards a future powered by wind, sun and water!”
