This August the Cheese and Grain have a lively programme of events to see you through to the end of summer.
Kicking off their programme will be an Adults Roller Disco on Friday 1st August and then every Friday throughout the month. It is recommended you bring your own skates but there will also be a selection of good quality skates available to buy on the night, courtesy of Ellenbray. Tickets for the Roller Disco are £5 in advance.
The rising stars that are Ward Thomas will be on Saturday 2nd August. Promoted as, “the next big thing in Country music” the Hampshire twins will be making their Frome debut ahead of their new album to be recorded in Nashville this year. Tickets are only £8.
The ska legends that are Bad Manners will be at the Cheese on Thursday 14th August. With such massive hits such as ‘Special Brew’, ‘Can Can’, ‘Lip Up Fatty’, ‘My Girl Lollypop’, ‘Sally Brown’ and ‘Skinhead Love Affair’, this promises to be a great night of ska. Tickets are £13 adv, £15 doors.
On Saturday 30th August the Cheese have the End of the Summer Party, which will be a night of live bands (to be announced) and a barbecue on the terrace, so come along and party. Tickets £5 adv.
Every Wednesday night at the Grain Bar the very popular Roots Sessions continue. This is a free event so come on down and enjoy the wonderful acoustic sets programmed each week.
Also in August the Cheese will host a 24 Hour Sing-a-Thon on Sunday 10th August – Monday 11th August where local performer Lottie Ball and her singing teacher Hannah Lockwood will be raising funds for Lotties drama school placement. Tickets will cost £5 on the door.
This summer will see an opportunity for something new at the Cheese and Grain. SkillUp Summer, an exciting programme of free workshops and activities is on offer for the first time in Frome, thanks to money from the Big Lottery Fund. As well as all these events, the Cheese will have their markets every week: Wednesdays – Antique & Collectors; Thursdays – Country Market with fresh produce.
