Batcombe Film Society will be screening ‘Queen of Katwe’ on Friday 17th March at the Batcombe Jubilee Hall.
Queen of Katwe is the colourful true story of a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess. As a result of the support she receives from her family and community she is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.
Directed by Mira Nair, 2016/124 mins/PG. Doors open at 7.15pm, film starts at 7.45pm.
