AUTUMN in Somerset means only one thing – it’s Carnival Time!
So Buckland History Group is pleased to announce that the first meeting of the new season on 5th October will feature John Dando and his presentation of ‘The Magic of Somerset Carnivals.’ John has 37 years’ experience of Carnivals from working in every role there is and will be giving us a behind-the-scenes look at this Somerset tradition.
There will be costumes, artefacts as well as some DVDs for sale. He will tell us about the different circuits – Frome belongs to the Wessex circuit. And also about the fund raising, as these carnivals happen with no government funding, unlike those in Notting Hill and St Paul’s.
So come and get in the carnival mood – Thursday 5th October, Buckland Dinham Village Hall at 7.30pm. £3 entry.
