A choral concert ‘Songs of Spring’ will be performed at Christ Church, Christchurch Street West, Frome on Saturday 23rd April at 7.30pm by CitySound Voices, conducted by Ruth McKibbin.
The lovely varied programme is of music on the theme of rivers, love and flowers, including Ivor Novello’s ‘We’ll gather lilacs’; Britten’s ‘Succession of the four months’; Rutter’s ‘I will sing with the spirit’; folk songs and spirituals, plus solo songs connected with Shakespeare and flowers, sung by Richard Pinnock (tenor).
23rd April is the birthday of William Shakespeare, and also the 400th anniversary of his death.
“Their concert is given in aid of Papyrus, the charity working for the prevention of young suicide. Papyrus is a practical charity with many ways of helping young people who are finding it hard to cope.”

Tickets for the concert, which are available on the door, cost £10 (£8 concessions) and £5 for children. Wine and soft drinks will be available.
