Frome Diamonds 28 Devizes Harriers 35
DIAMONDS, sponsored by Dennis Maps, went into this match knowing they would face strong opposition because of the Harriers’ place in the league.
Surprising themselves and Harriers, Diamonds held their own for the first stanza and finished at 8 goals apiece.
With fluent passing by Georgie Southwell and Tilly Kempshall into the shooters of Janie Bullus and Lauren Wilkinson, Diamonds went toe to toe with Harriers.
Unfortunately, the second stanza they lost ground slightly due to some silly errors which Harriers used to their advantage. At half time there was only 6 goals in it and at one point they had only been trailing by 4.
Bringing on Amelia Pulvertaft for her last game, before moving to pastures new, gave height in the defending circle and she will be missed by the team.
Tireless work by Bev Chapman and Emily Pascoe in defence meant that the Harriers shooters had to be on top form as Diamonds picked up many rebounds which were converted into goals.
A few costly errors though meant Harriers held on to take the win, but Diamonds can take heart from this performance going into 2022.
Player of the Match went to Lauren, whilst Bev picked up the Players’ Player award.
