Revelations will be exposed in a Frome Festival event at Christ Church on Monday 10th July, when David Owen Norris, renowned pianist and broadcaster from BBC television and Radio 3 explores the large music books belonging to Jane Austen’s family.
These volumes contain hand-written music manuscripts; some attributed to famous composers, but some, one piano sonata in particular, of less sure attribution. Could Jane Austen, the writer of “Pride and Prejudice”, have composed a piano sonata? David Owen Norris will play it and you can make up your own mind! A square piano from Jane Austen’s time will be supplied for the demonstration by Frome early instrument expert, Christopher Barlow.
Tickets for this fascinating and insightful evening (Event 1010) cost £12, from the Cheese and Grain box office, or at the door. The concert starts at 7.30pm.
