The Frome Festival has just announced its July 2019 line up and has already hit an unprecedented demand for tickets.
Headlining acts include DJ Judge Jules, with a 10-piece live band in an opening night party on the Friday 5th July; followed by major indie act The Coral, on Monday 8th, and on Friday 12th July, the chart- topping Scouting for Girls – all at the Cheese and Grain.
The Memorial Theatre will present Danceworks, and perennial favourite, Cornish comedian Jethro. In a post- Festival “encore” the theatre will also host The Drifters on Saturday 19th.
The above shows are all selling in advance of the Festival at their respective box office outlets and on-line. Although a small stock of tickets will be held back for sale in most cases for the official box office launch on Sunday 19th May, customers are advised to book early. As Festival director Martin Dimery explained, “Most Festival events will go up for sale at our central Cheese and Grain box office from May 19th, but the major events are tied in to national tours and have to be announced earlier. We are delighted that these acts are already selling massively, notably Scouting for Girls, which sold 300 tickets within two hours of going on sale.”
An exciting programme is also being planned at the Silk Mill, Cooper Hall and The Merlin Theatre. Spring brochures and websites for each venue will carry information in the near future.
Christ Church, Holy Trinity and St. John’s will all be presenting programmes of classical and modern music, to be revealed in early May when the Festival brochure is published.
The Festival Friends subscription scheme is proving popular this year, giving members an advanced opportunity to buy tickets on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th May. Martin Dimery explained, “The Festival Friends subscriptions helps keep us going year-round and activities are organised for members outside of the Festival.”
This year the Festival will present a Comedy Crawl for the first time. Comedians will be engaged to visit various bar or shop premises along Catherine Hill in rotation, to expectantly-awaiting audiences during the course of one evening.
The Frome Festival celebrates the 200th Anniversary of JW Singer and the foundry that dominated the Frome skyline for many years, casting some of the world’s most famous statues.
