Frome Friends of Palestine have two events coming up in the town over the next few weeks. The first is a talk by a prestigious lecturer in Palestine Studies and the other is the group’s ‘legendary’ fundraising jumble sale.
Dr Nadia Nasser Najjab (left), senior lecturer in Palestine Studies at Exeter University, is due to give a talk on Saturday 26th October from 2pm to 4pm at Trinity Hall.
“Nadia will talk about how Palestinian culture, including education, has been systematically and violently targeted since the earliest days of the British Mandate and Zionist rule,” says one of the organisers, Gerard Crawshaw.
“She will also discuss what solidarity actions we can take to support Palestinians in their determination to maintain education in these dark times. Admission is by donation on the door, or you can reserve a place via Eventbrite.”
Following this on Saturday 2nd November, the group will host a jumble sale to raise funds for Hebron International Resource Network, which is currently helping families in Gaza and Hebron.
Gerard said, “If you have any pre-loved, good quality items, please drop them off at Trinity Hall on Friday 1st November between 6pm and 9pm. The jumble sale is due to be held from 10am to 12noon at Trinity Hall, Trinity Street, BA11 3DE.
“Come and grab a bargain. Entrance is 50p.”
