Gracewell of Frome on Welshmill Lane is opening its doors to the local community as it marks Care Home Open Day 2019 on Friday 28th June.
Now in its seventh year, Care Home Open Day encourages care communities across the UK to be joined by neighbours as they celebrate a different theme each year, with the values of friendship and celebrating older and vulnerable people at the heart of the initiative.
This year’s theme, Celebrating Arts in Care, will demonstrate how care homes are creative communities. Gracewell of Frome will be honouring the theme with a day packed full of arts and crafts-inspired activities and events.
On the day, the community will be hosting a 60s-themed Garden Festival from 2.30pm – 4.00pm. The festival will feature a resident artwork exhibition, whilst flags and tie dye t-shirts made by residents will also be on display. Entertainment group Daisy Chain Productions will be on hand to provide fun music and entertainment for all.
Guests will also be able to enjoy a balloon artist, traditional party food and refreshments, an ice-cream van, candy floss and face painting and are encouraged to dress up, with a prize for the best-dressed.
Further demonstrating the day’s community spirit, a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses will donate proceeds to Fair Frome, a local charity helping to alleviate the effects of child hunger and poverty.
Gracewell of Frome, which provides high quality, personalised nursing, residential and dementia care, is looking forward to establishing meaningful friendships with neighbours, friends, family and local arts organisations, all whilst celebrating the exciting creative activities the care community continues to offer its residents.
