An exciting cinematic event is coming to the Westway Cinema in Frome on Friday 5th December.
This promises to give Tolkien fans the chance to indulge their love of the existing Hobbit films whilst preparing themselves for the next one and also supporting the excellent cause that is Edventure: Frome.
Richard Wells and Oliver Child, two apprentices at Edventure: Frome training in social entrepreneurship, are creating an all-night filmic marathon to anticipate the release of the third movie in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’, to be released in the UK on the 12th December.
What better way to celebrate the coming of the climactic film in the trilogy than to snuggle down in the cosy Westway Cinema and enjoy a night time vigil following Bilbo on his adventures in the first two Hobbit films, ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ and ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug?’ If this does not generate excitement in the local community in the countdown to the final chapter of the trilogy then Edventure: Frome don’t know what will!
‘The Unexpected Marathon’, as the apprentices have titled it, aspires to attract Tolkien freaks from far and wide across the land, dressed as their favourite characters, not only to watch the films but also to participate in an experience they will never forget!
Co-organiser Oliver Child said of the event, “This project came about when the apprentices were brainstorming ideas for fund-raising at the Hub and this one immediately caught our interest as film-lovers.
“Giving everyone a chance to relive films from the past that perhaps they never experienced on the silver screen was the inspiration for this event. We believe that the existing Hobbit films were amongst the greatest filmic events of the twenty first century to date, and we want to share our excitement about the forthcoming release of the epic conclusion to the trilogy.”
‘The Unexpected Marathon’ will be held on Friday 5th December at the Westway Cinema, commencing at 10.00pm and ending at 5.00am. Tickets can be purchased at the cinema itself (box office number 01373 467088) and at Edventure: Frome, which is based at the Welsh Mill Hub on Park Hill Drive.
