THERE is less than three weeks to go before this year’s Corsley Show which will play host to horseback falconry, piano smashing, tug of war and much more!
Star attraction at the Corsley Show this August Bank Holiday, Monday 29th, will be Jonathan Marshall with his flying falcons and dancing horses.
Organiser Jenny Rutty said, “Jonathan has earned his reputation as one of the world’s leading display falconers over the last 30 years. He has provided falconry shows at some of the largest outdoor events in the UK. He has worked on many film and television projects which have featured his unique work that includes hang gliding with Golden Eagles and skydiving with Peregrine falcons.”
Smash Bash Piano Trash teams will be battling it out in the main arena, crushing pianos into pieces small enough to post through a letter box as they compete to win a coveted barrel of beer.
More local teams will also take part in a strenuous tug of war competition after its comeback last year. Winners will raise a glass to Milk Street Brewery of Frome who have donated two kegs of beer as prizes.
Jenny continued, “Infinity Dance Team from Westbury won our hearts in 2015 when they visited the Corsley Show for the first time and gave a joyful performance in the mud and pouring rain. Infinity’s cast of 4 – 18 year-olds has grown and this year we welcome them to the main arena.
“Children’s sports will get the main arena acts off to a vigorous start, followed by a mass tug-of-war, children versus parents, while teams for our Championship Tug of War contest limber up.
“There will be live music from the Frukes in the Beer tent. The Frome ukelele band play classic tunes in their own inimitable way and we are delighted to welcome them for their first appearance at the Corsley Show.
“In other corners of the scenic show field site, you will find Frome Town Archers.”
