THE Frome Selwood Horticulture Society (FSHS) have announced the return of the annual plant sale at Selwood Academy on Saturday 28th May – doors open at 9.30am.
The society report, “After two years’ absence the flowers, vegetables and shrubs which would have been sold during Covid lockdown have borne their own fruit, so with great excitement the FSHS are pleased to announce the return of the annual plant sale.
“It will take place at Selwood Academy, Berkley Road, Frome, BA11 2EF, on Saturday, 28th May 2022. Doors open 9:30am when selling is anticipated to be brisk.
“Flowers, vegetables, and shrubs; homemade cakes and jams; garden tools and bric and brac will all be for sale, with members giving advice to sapling growers.
“And adding to the value of your visit, Frome in Bloom will have their display of plants for sale. Since 1977 Frome in Bloom has been committed to embellishing Frome with flowers. Muriel Jones, a local teacher was one of the founding local members of the national competition. Her name lives on in the Muriel Jones allotments in Birchill Lane, Blatchbridge. The FSHS has likewise been growing since 1966. So, to all plant lovers, come and join in the morning and capture what has kept these two gardening groups growing for over 56 years, and don’t forget to bring your own bags!”
