This year’s Frome Festival is all set to be one of the best yet and at its very heart lies a project which celebrates this town and the incredible people who live in it.
Humans of Frome is delighted to be taking over The Silk Mill Gallery throughout the festival to shed a light on the fabulous people of Frome.
Humans of Frome, the regular Frome Times column and online blog believes that everyone has a story to tell. So far we have met a well known street busker who most did not realise is a former member of Hawkwind and now an international touring artist with Hawklords; a woman who has ran more marathons than I can name here to get herself through the pain of a painful marriage break up; a scientist who recently discovered her mother was an international spy; an artist who escaped a military coup in Tehran and is now our Mendip councillor; a man who has lost half his body weight following a complete lifestyle change; and the courageous mother who has guided her young son through his decision to have his leg amputated at the age of 12 – amongst others.
Creator of Humans of Frome, Ciara Nolan said, “Come mingle with your fellow townspeople on 30th June at our launch event, find out more about those familiar faces that you might pass on the street everyday, share your own stories, recommend people who you think should be featured by the project in the future.
“This community event could not happen without the help and support of the Frome Times, Frome Town Council and the Mayor Toby Eliot, the Silk Mill Gallery, the good people at Mount Art Services and of course the good people of Frome.”
Ciara Nolan will also be launching her first novel ‘The Hidden Books’ which further emphasises her belief that everyone is in fact a hidden book until their stories are shared.
Copies will be on sale at the Silk Mill throughout the exhibition, and will also available at Poot Emporium or online at www.ebay.co.uk/…/The-Hidden-Books…/282076322305?
