ON the first Friday of every month meander from art gallery to gallery viewing the latest exhibitions, as part of Frome First Fridays.
This new event is led by Black Swan Arts and is free of charge, enabling people to visit the town’s galleries and art spaces on the first Friday of each month in the evening in a relaxed way, whilst enjoying a drink and nibbles.
Organisers from Black Swan Arts said, “Frome is long-overdue a regular date to explore our fabulous venues after hours. Art galleries often host late night openings and private views, but it can sometimes be intimidating walking into an unknown space. As Frome’s community arts centre, Black Swan Arts wanted to throw open its doors to everyone in a friendly, fun and informal way and lead this new inclusive night for Frome.
“Other arts venues will also open late, so the town will transform into a casual, walking trail of fun, exploration, great company and end of the week wind down! Some venues can open from 5pm, most are from 6pm until late (we’ll stay open after 8pm if there’s demand!)”
Frome First Fridays coincides with the Frome Independent Market that takes place on the first Sunday of each month.
Organisers said, “Everyone is welcome, free entry, no need to pre-book, no ticket required…just wander into town and enjoy First Fridays with us.”
Galleries and establishments in Frome taking part in the event include: Gallery at The Station; The Whittox Gallery; The Iron Gates Studio; Chubby Vegans Frome; River House; The Silk Mill; and more.
