Frome’s New Venue at The Wheatsheaves on Bath Street, is set to play host to a wonderfully huge selection of music old, new, local and live throughout March, including a Jamie Mines fundraiser and a 90s disco celebrating the best (and worst) music of the 90s.
The live music celebrations are set to continue into April with Northern Soul & Southern Funk featuring Fat Stanley, and later on in the year Martha Tilston makes Frome’s Venue a pit stop on her 2017 ‘NOMAD’ tour.
A celebration for the 90s is set to happen at Frome’s Venue this Friday 17th March. In a St Patrick’s Day Special, Jonny Bonny Tyler hosts 90’s FRESH 2! Only the best and worst music from the decade will be played. DJ Jonny says, “We will be celebrating St Patricks Day like it was 1997.” 90s attire is also encouraged. Tickets on the door £3 until 10pm and £5 until 12am.
Frome’s Venue will also be playing host to a fundraising event in aid of Jamie Mines on Friday 24th March. DJ Toby Spin will be kicking it all off playing a varied selection of hip hop, RnB, club classics, disco and charts. DJ Lightside will be playing drum and bass rave anthems. MR L & Millstone, DJ’s from Deep Space Records UK, will take you through to the early hours with deep bassy drum and bass vibes.
The music will be hosted by local MC Country Habitz (Spec K). Advance tickets are £10 but a ‘Mega Donation’ option is available at £20, tickets will also be available on the door at £10 – all profits go to the Jamie Mines Gofundme appeal.
Next month is looking to be an even bigger month for live music at Frome’s Venue. A night of Northern and Southern Funk on Friday 7th April will feature live local band, Fat Stanley, a nine-piece Funk machine playing the greatest picks of funk, soul and dance. DJs Roch and Smileee J will be spinning tunes from the 60s until late. Advance tickets are £3 and £5 on the door.
Martha Tilston will be taking her 2017 tour to Frome’s Venue with her new album ‘NOMAD’ on Thursday 15th June.
With a voice like spider-webbed hollows and lyrics that inspire and captivate, Martha has earned a nomination from the BBC for Best Newcomer and released six albums to date on her own label Squiggly Records building up a large audience worldwide.
It’s said that this is to be a fairly intimate gig with limited tickets available. Early bird tickets are £12 and advance £14.
