FROME Food Assembly is once again holding a local food tasting, this time with producers selling produce as well as sampling.
The event takes place this Wednesday 11th October at the Steiner School Main Hall in Park Road, at 5.30pm-7.30pm.
Two new producers will be joining the Assembly and selling on the night. The Rye Bakery (already well known in Frome and based at the popular Hub Nub centre) will be selling their rye bread following several requests from Food Assembly regulars.
In addition, Sole of Discretion, the ethical fishmonger based in Plymouth will be attending once a month to sell fish. A community interest company, they are owned by the fishers that land to it. They are 100% committed to ethical, quality fish, and they buy only from static gill or trammel netters and hand liners, fishing mostly out of Plymouth. Food Assembly co-host Lindsay Downes explains, “We hope to broaden the Food Assembly’s appeal by presenting our customers with a wider range of fish including ling, salmon, pollack, plaice and mackerel.”
There will be plenty to sample and enjoy on the 11th including tasters from Cavendish Cooks, Bioaqua Farm, Meadowside Farm, the Free Range Chef and more.
“No orders are necessary,” emphasises co-host Pia McGee. “Everyone is welcome to come along and, this Wednesday, our producers will also be bringing extra produce to sell on the night. If you have been tempted by the idea of the Food Assembly but want to try before you buy, this is the perfect opportunity!”
