Mells Open Gardens is back on Saturday 11th June, when 14 gardens will be opening for the day in the village.
Organiser Rob Waller said, “Open gardens have become a great addition to the British summer – what could be better than to spend a relaxed afternoon in a beautiful English village visiting residents’ gardens, with home-made food and plants on sale.
“Someone wrote that open gardens are the perfect English day out, combining walking, gardening… and snooping.”
The gardens will be on view from 11am to 5pm, giving plenty of time for strolling round the village.
Refreshments will be available at Mells Tithe Barn and Mells Café, and the Mells Community Choir will perform at lunchtime.
Rob continued, “The 14 gardens, large and small, have something to inspire everyone, including historic Mells Manor North Court with stonework by renowned Edwardian architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, and the Walled Garden at Mells.
“Mells Open Gardens is organised in aid of the community-run Mells Village Shop and Café, which will also be open throughout the day.”
Tickets – in the form of a leaflet and map – are available from the shop at £5. Accompanied children under 16 go free.
