Frome’s Station Gallery is hosting an exhibition of Adrian Fisk’s photographs of British Environmental Direct Action 1995-1999, entitled Until the Last Oak Falls, from 8th -13th November.
From 1995-1999 photojournalist, Adrian Fisk, spent five-years creating one of the largest photographic documentations of the early British direct action environmental movement.
He’ll be giving a compelling and inspiring talk on Thursday 10th November at 6pm about his just published book Until the Last Oak falls taking you on a photographic journey through the 1990s’ actions of the environmental protestors, hundreds of which lived in trees in an attempt to save them from being destroyed by the Conservative government’s road expansion programme. Also, Reclaim the Streets, an anarchic creative mass that shut down parts of London to highlight cars, pollution and climate change that in later years helped provide inspiration for Extinction Rebellion.
A spokesperson said, “In this unprecedented time of climate emergency ,witness these extraordinary photographs of the past and see how they can inform tactics of the future.
“Adrian has just published his book of photos Until the Last Oak Falls which are pretty fantastic and need lots of people to see them.
“So come along to Adrian Fisk’s talk and slide show on Thursday 10th November and cllr Shane Collins’s talk Five Things to Change and Five Ways to Do It, looking at what lessons we can learn from the road protests and Reclaim the Streets for the situation today.
“Do book tickets for the talks and come and have a glass of cider with lots of food outlets at the Station Gallery, Frome (just by the station).”
