HOLY Trinity Church will play host to an opera double bill of Mozart’s ‘Bastien and Bastienne’ and Bach’s ‘Coffee Cantata’ next week for the Frome Festival.
The performance is a new production by Maarten van der Duin featuring Suzanne Smart, Timothy Coleman and Lukasz Biela with the London Gala Orchestra. The performance will be conducted by Stephen Ellery, who as a saxophone player, performed on the Berlin Wall the day it came down.
‘Bastien and Bastienne’ is a comic opera written by Mozart when he was only 12 years old, and is about a boyfriend and girlfriend who try to make each other jealous.
‘Coffee Cantata’ by Bach is about an angry father who scolds his daughter for being addicted to coffee, telling her that she is not allowed to marry unless she stops drinking her daily caffeine fix.
The operas will be performed on Saturday 14th July form 7.30pm to 9.15pm. For more information and tickets, visit: http://fromefestival.co.uk/event/?eventid=1132
