The annual Frome Festival Short Story Competition is currently open and welcomes submissions until May 31st.
The competition attracts writers from all over the UK and beyond, but as always, there are special prizes for the best local entries; this year there is an additional £50 prize for the best local entry by a writer under 21.
Best-selling author, and ex-Frome college student, Kerry Wilkinson, has waived his fee for speaking to Frome Writers’ Collective via Zoom in order to fund this award.
The competition organisers plan to hold a prize-giving event as part of Frome Festival this year, to take place on the ECOS stage on Sunday July 11th.
Local writer and translator, Frances Liardet, author of the acclaimed novel We Must Be Brave, is the guest judge this year and will announce the results and award the prizes.
All writers – young, old and in-between – are encouraged to submit a story of between 1,000 and 2,200 words.
