Frome Musical Theatre Company’s youth section, Spellbound, present ‘Seussical’ from Thursday 2nd – Saturday 4th August at 7pm, with a matinee also on Saturday 4th August at 2pm, at the Frome Memorial Theatre.
The musical is based on the well loved books of Dr Seuss, featuring favourite characters including The Cat in the Hat, Thing One and Thing Two, Horton the Elephant, The Grinch, The Whos of Whoville, Yertle the Turtle and many more!
Seussical is about a little boy called Jojo who is always getting into trouble for letting his imagination run riot! He meets the mischievous Cat in the Hat and his naughty team Thing One and Thing Two, who help him create the story of Horton: an elephant in the Jungle of Nool who discovers a speck of dust floating through the air that contains the Planet of Who and all its inhabitants!
Horton decides he must protect the speck of dust by placing it on a nearby clover, while at the same time protecting an abandoned egg left to his care by the lazy Mayzie La Bird. Horton tries to convince the other animals in The Jungle of the existence of the Whos, but he is ridiculed and put on trial with only his loyal neighbour, Gertrude McFuzz, believing him. Will Horton save the Whos? Book your tickets and come and find out!
Seussical weaves a story of friendship, loyalty and love and teaches us the power of being unique, the importance of fighting for what you believe in and that “a person’s a person, no matter how small”.
Spellbound say, “This is going to be a fantastic show for all the family with amazing musical numbers, hilarious characters, show-stopping choreography and stunning costumes.”
The show runs from Thursday 2nd – Saturday 4th August at 7pm, with a matinee also on Saturday 5th August at 2pm.
