LOCAL cat welfare charity Cats In Distress is holding a Spring Fair to raise funds for its work.
The fair will also celebrate the sixth anniversary of the charity, which is run entirely by a team of volunteers. The charity has now helped over 1,000 cats.
The Spring Fair is being held at Beckington Memorial Hall, Bath Rd, Beckington on Saturday 2nd April and will run from 10.30am – 2pm.
The charity says, “As well as delicious cakes and refreshments, there will be a tombola, raffle, homemade produce, books, cards and of course gifts for your favourite feline. All profits go to helping us to help more cats. Admission is free.
“The hall has plenty of parking and is well served by local buses from Frome, Bath and Trowbridge.”
About their ongoing work, the charity says, “It’s a sad fact that there are so many cats needing help, and not enough rescue spaces. We believe that with a looming economic crisis and current worldwide events, this situation is going to get worse.
“We are currently making some changes to both our centres, enabling us to admit more cats whilst still providing the level of care and expertise that we are recognised for.
“Our main rescue site in Berkley is also going to be undertaking another major project by constructing a much needed new kitten suite. Ideally kittens would be in foster homes, but there aren’t enough suitable homes to provide the specialist care kittens often need.
“This new suite will provide everything they need: from an incubation unit for newborns, right through to giving them access to everyday sights and sounds they need to be correctly socialised, getting them used to living in domestic homes.”
