IT’S been an exciting last week for the Frome Musical Theatre Company as they not only launched their new name, having previously been the Frome Amateur Operatic Society for over one hundred years, but also wowed audiences with a very powerful production of Sweeney Todd.

Now Frome Musical Theatre Company turn towards their annual Christmas Pantomime which this year will be Cinderella. The production will run at the Frome Memorial Theatre from 29th December 2013 to 4th January 2014 and tickets are already on sale at the box office.
There will be 2.00pm matinee performances on 29th, 30th & 31st December & 1st and 4th January and 7.00pm evening performances on 29th December and 3rd & 4th January.
Auditions were held a few of weeks ago and the FMTC is delighted to announce a very strong and experienced line-up for this Christmas.
In the title role is pantomime favourite Bethany Iyavoo (nee Harris) and playing opposite her as Prince Charming is Tabi Cox, who was recently nominated for a prestigious Rose Bowl Award for her portrayal as Maria in the spring production of The Sound of Music.
Ben Hardy-Phillips is fast becoming a firm favourite with Frome audiences and he has been cast as Buttons. With over 100 years of combined experience on stage the Ugly Sisters; Grizelda & Gertrude will be played by two familiar faces that need absolutely no introduction namely Humphrey Barnes and Andrew Carpenter (they might refer to the script from time to time!). The second principal boy, Dandini, will be played by Jasmine Shillabeer and Fairy Godmother, Teresa Bray, both fresh from their stunningly successful performances in Sweeney Todd.
Making up the principal line-up is Andy Tawse as Baron Hardup, Vic May as Baroness Hardup and Simon Joyce as Chambers. They will be joined by an ensemble of 24 people including six young dancers from Danceworks.
The creative team this year is Jo Plenty, Producer & Director, David Hynds as Musical Director and Sarah Plenty as Choreographer.
With its usual mix of popular music, slapstick comedy and all round family entertainment tickets are expected to sell well for this traditional pantomime so readers are asked to make sure they book early to ensure they get the date and seats of their choice – don’t leave it too late!
