THE East Mendip branch of the Somerset Wildlife Trust is set to kick off the new year’s activities with a talk this week, and two more events in February.
The local conservation charity will be hosting its first event in Frome for 2016, with the talk ‘Pictures and Patterns of Change’ by Eve Tigwell.
The talk will take place this Thursday 28th January from 7.30pm at St Catherine’s Church Hall, Park Road. Eve will talk about the pictures and patterns emerging from the new British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) Atlas and the first-ever Somerset Bird Atlas. Entry costs £2.50 for adults and £1 for children and students.
Then on Sunday 14th February, Mick Ridgard will lead a winter walk round Catcott Lows near Bridgwater. This will take in the recently completed tower hide and boardwalk. Meet at Catcott car park at 10am. Entry costs £2.50 for adults and £1 for children and students.
Back in Frome on Thursday 25th February, Nigel Phillips will give a talk entitled The Somerset Coast, providing an update on the trust’s marine and coastal activities, including wildlife found along the shore and in rock pools during the survey work. The talk will take place at St Catherine’s Church Hall from 7.30pm.
