Every Thursday throughout August, Frome Textiles Workshop will be running a series of skill-sharing sessions hosted by SHARE – A Library of Things.
The collaboration has been organised by Benjamin Smith, currently studying a Masters degree in Textiles.
Launching on Sunday 2nd August at the Frome Independent, Ben and members of Frome Textile’s Workshop will be making a guest appearance at the Library of Things to share their unique skills and give a flavour of what is expected in the month ahead. Tools, materials and guidance will be provided for a variety of textile crafts alongside demonstrations.
Following the market, each Thursday from 12.00-6.00pm they will be in residence in the shop on the Bridge and would like to welcome everyone to come have a go and learn about textiles. At the end of the month the tools will be donated to the Library of Things so they can be borrowed by anyone inspired to try their hand at weaving.
Maija Powell, project manager of SHARE – A Library of Things said, “We are really excited to be welcoming Frome Textiles Workshop into SHARE. This series of skill sharing workshops we hope will be the first of many.
“From textiles to tool maintenance, it’s great to have the space to learn from the wide range of skills and experiences in our local community.”
SHARE – A Library of Things opened its doors three months ago. A place to borrow anything, from chocolate fountains to garden forks, SHARE has an ever-growing catalogue of tools, cooking utensils, leisure items and gardening equipment.
The edventure:Frome enterprise in collaboration with Frome Town Council and Sustainable Frome has seen over 150 members sign up and start borrowing.
