STUDENTS Jake Eaton, Adam Baker and Tom Leigh are building a combat robot suitable to win the famous BBC2 TV show “Robot Wars,” and are asking for help.
The team said, “We are a team of young enterprising Year 10 students with an interest in robotics, and the knowledge and skill to make a combat robot worthy of a Robot Wars champion. Skilled in the arts of computing and construction, we are going to make our Frome College entry a winner.
“We all take part in subjects which require us to build such a complicated machine, and have experience in creating working products that are innovative and safe to use. All of us are at the top of our game in coding, and we have the much-needed support from the college for its construction.
“We are hoping for donations of materials and supplies. Specifically we need: Medium or high carbon steel, Motors, LiPo or LiFePo4 batteries and financial sponsorship
“We really need your help! In our quest to succeed on building a real contender, we also need help with sponsorship contributions to the ‘war effort’ to buy components. In order for us to be able to build our mighty robot ‘Ballistic’ we will need approximately £1,000 for the project. With everyone’s help, we intend to make Frome College the UK champions, and build something that will blow the competition away!
“Thank you to Keyford Engineering who have kindly donated some materials and funds to begin the robot, and our team will keep you updated on our progress. Thank you in advance for any support you can offer us to get to the final.”
