TWO young Frome artists have had their work selected for the highly prestigious Royal Academy Young Artists’ Summer show
14-year-old Nell Ttwheam and Laura Shaw in Year 12 at Frome College had work selected from over 33,000 entries.
Nell was delighted to make a visit to the Royal Academy of Arts in London’s Mayfair last week to see her ‘Fried Eggs in the Frying Pan’ acrylic work on canvas in pride of place on the gallery walls.
“I couldn’t believe it when I heard that my painting had been chosen,” said Nell. “It was a painting about my experience of lockdown and how ordinary everyday things and rituals were becoming both comforting and a little disturbing. I love painting, it has been a very relaxing way of expressing my feelings about what has been a very strange time.’”
The painting which was framed by Mount Art at the Silk Mill Studios is on show at The Royal Academy until August 8th. It is also available to view at www.royalacademy.or.uk. Greetings cards and prints of Nell’s work are available at Poot Emporium Frome or online www.lovefromtheartist.com
Laura had a piece of photography selected to be displayed online and on-site. “This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to how incredible the standard of Laura’s work is,” said Frome College.
