A SCHOOL and a youth organisation in Frome have been given £10,000 each in the latest round of Big Lottery Fund grants.
Beckington First School and Frome Active were both included in a £1.7million funding windfall for the South West earlier this month.
Beckington school will put the money towards refurbishing its playground. This project will install play equipment on the school premises and give pupils more opportunity for exciting outdoor play and learning.
Frome Active, a not-for-profit youth organisation in the town, will use the money for its ‘Hospitable Frome’ project. The project will run a series of events showcasing and promoting cultural diversity, utilising works produced by children and young people from migrant communities.
It is hoped the project will enable migrants to positively present and share their culture with local residents, bringing the community together and leading to increased understanding.
