MARIE Curie, the UK’s leading charity for people with a terminal illness, need a new collection box co-ordinator in Frome to help raise money and awareness for the charity.
Riona Houghton, community fundraiser for Somerset and North Devon said, “We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly volunteer to help us raise money and awareness for Marie Curie.
“Your role will be to place collection boxes in local businesses such as newsagents, chemists, pubs and doctors’ surgeries all within the local community. The more boxes you can place and collect, the more money you will raise for Marie Curie.
“You will be a big part of making this happen by seeking out new premises, visiting where you have placed the collection boxes, collecting, recording, counting and banking donations and issuing thank you cards to the local business owners.
“Over the last few months I have looked after the collection boxes in Frome and we have some fantastic support from local businesses out there. It’s great to see how much you are raising over a few months and then thanking the stores with a handwritten card and their box total.
“Last year in Somerset over 350 people with a terminal illness had a Marie Curie nurse through the day and night and the work our volunteers do in local communities is invaluable in providing this car.”
If you are interested in the role, contact Riona Houghton on 0117 9420 429 or email riona. houghton@marie curie.org.uk. You must be over the age of 16, or 14 with an accompanying adult. This role can be done as an individual or with a friend.
