Frome-based musician, Vicki Burke, is bringing her Bristol band Flash Harry back to the Cornerhouse for this year’s Frome Festival on Saturday 13th July.
Flash Harry have over the last few years become a favourite at the festival and have been exciting crowds in Bristol for over 30 years. Playing their heady mix of music peppered with off-beat humour and songs about hamsters being lost on the underground, the band members have their roots in Bristol and the South West.
The band members have a rich musical background, working with artists and bands such as Up Bustle and Out, Vivian Stanshall, Seize the Day and the much missed Frome funk band Fat Stanley.
When asked about the gig Martin Early from the Cornerhouse laughs and says, “I’m stuck with this band now…it seems that our packed schedule of Festival gigs is never complete without the glorious Flash Harry. They are wonderful and always get the pub stomping with their high energy mix of folk, balkan and blues. This year’s gig will one of the highlights for me, I’m so pleased that they love playing in my pub.”
Frome-based saxophonist and singer, Vicki Burke said, “Its now a regular thing for us and pretty convenient as I can walk to the gig! We are all very busy with our other bands, as well as Flash Harry, but fitting this one into the diary is a priority.”
Flash Harry play Frome Festival at the Cornerhouse on Saturday 13th July at 8.30pm. Entry is free, however, the magic hat will be passed round during the evening!
