FROME’s popular annual Walking Festival is back this November with three action-packed days of guided walks for all ages, interests and abilities.
“From Friday 10th to Sunday 12th November, take your pick from the 18 walks on offer (14 of which are free) and put on your walking boots, wellies or even your dancing shoes” said project officer at Frome Town Council, Emma Parker. “This year’s walks cover distances from a gentle half-mile to a whopping 12 and a half miles, so whether you’re a seasoned rambler or looking for a fun family activity, there’s something in the programme for you.
“Along with some brand-new walks, many of the highlights from previous years are making a triumphant return. These include the popular Heritage Tree Walk with local author Julian Hight, two walks continuing from last year’s Celebrated Women of Frome and a dance through the cobbled streets on a Silent Disco Tour.
“We’re excited to be working with Frome Walkers are Welcome to bring the Walking Festival back for its sixth year. Over 150 people joined in last year and we’re hoping this year’s programme will once again inspire residents and visitors alike to get outside and celebrate the rich history and nature of Frome and our stunning neighbouring villages.”
Pick up a programme at the Discover Frome Information Point in Frome Library or from various other places around town, or download the digital programme and book your tickets at www.discoverfrome.co.uk/frome-walking-festival
“All walks need to be booked and spaces are limited, make sure you book early to avoid disappointment,” added Emma. “If you need any assistance booking online, please give Frome Town Council a call on 01373 465 757 or pop into Frome Town Hall.”
