THIS month sees the return of Frome International Climate Film Festival, which takes place at the Cheese and Grain on Sunday 19th May.
Over 850 films have been submitted to the festival organisers, with 300 chosen to go to the 12 judges, who are now making the final selection to be showcased at the festival.
A member of the team, Julia Wellard, said, “The films have been chosen to inspire positive change. They show ideas and practices from people all over the world tackling the issues caused by climate change in a thoughtful way. The films are inspiring, touching, thought-provoking and engaging. Most are short and many are animated, especially those for children, and have wide appeal.
“The climate crisis is bringing many challenges but we hope you leave the film festival feeling energised and inspired, encouraged and hopeful.”
The day before the event, on Saturday 18th May, local filmmakers from eco/green groups will show their films and network from 11am-3pm upstairs at the Cheese and Grain.
“There will be three awards allocated for local films that will be handed out at the festival,” explains Julia.
The day will be filled with children’s eco activities, a green technology showcase, a music and movement zone, riverside walks and workshops, the international climate film festival awards and a post-awards party with local bands.
The event is free but donations can be made via the Frome International Climate Film Festival website.
Doors open at 9am; visit the Climate Film Festival website for more information https://climatefilmfestival.co.uk/
