Pianist Jacquelyn Bevan and her musician colleagues are performing a series of free lunchtime chamber concerts in the Bennett Centre, Vicarage Street, Frome, every Wednesday at 1pm throughout the summer, starting on 17th July.
The concerts feature cellist Linda Stocks, who will perform a programme of Romantic cello music on 17th July; oboist James Watts, playing music by Bach, Schumann, Saint-Saens and Poulenc (24th July); Neil Moore, who will perform 20th century clarinet works, including jazz-inspired pieces on 14th August; and bassoonist Martin Gatt who will give the last recital (4th September).
The Mendip Ensemble will play concerts of French music and trio pieces inspired by song and dance, for woodwinds and piano; and Trio Paradis will play two themed concerts: Travel Notes and Pastoral Scenes. Trio Paradis are the palm court trio in residence at Midsomer Norton Town Hall, where they play on the first Friday lunchtime of each month; they also give free monthly concerts in Holy Trinity Church, Bradford-on-Avon and, from September, are starting a new series in Trowbridge Town Hall.
The atmosphere is informal, with cafe-style seating and refreshments on sale before the concert.
“After you’ve visited the Wednesday morning market, we hope you will join us for informal live music with friends, in the beautiful acoustic of the Bennett Centre,” says Jacquelyn Bevan.
Doors open at 12.45pm and each concert will last approximately 45 minutes. Entrance is free with a retiring collection. For further information visit www. musicianssouthwest.com
