Cooper Hall will welcome author and opera director, Linda Kitchen, and internationally acclaimed mezzo soprano, Louise Winter, who is currently performing throughout the current season at The Royal Opera House.
They began their opera careers together at Glyndebourne Festival Opera 30 years ago and will entertain with stories, anecdotes and of course some fabulous singing at the launch of Linda’s latest book in Frome.
‘Opera Lives’ is a testament to not only Linda’s life in the profession, but 20 other singers who have had diverse experiences in the world of opera. Morag, creative director of Cooper Hall, and Louise are two of these singers who bare their soul for the reader.
‘Opera Lives’ not only sheds light on the workings of an opera career, it delves into many areas of a singer’s life. The book highlights the complexities involved in maintaining a finely-tuned career, whilst remaining true to oneself.
Renowned photographer, Nobby Clark, contributes to ‘Opera Lives’ with his beautiful photographs displayed throughout the book. At this Opera Club event, Linda will talk us through how the book came to life, with Louise singing songs and arias that reflect her stellar career, accompanied by Rosemary Walton on piano.
Morag McLaren is also threatening to share a number which further proves exactly why she has hovered on the periphery of the mainstream of the opera world compared with her esteemed contemporaries, Linda and Louise!
The performance takes place on Thursday 28th March. For tickets and booking contact: www.cooperhall.org
