MEMBERS of Buckland Dinham WI celebrated their Centenary on Saturday 7th April. They invited present and past members and members from their county federation and other WIs.
The group reports, “Over 50 members were at the celebration and Mrs Muriel Cary, their longest serving member, cut the centenary cake. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers from president, Mrs Jenny Holmes, in recognition of all the work and enthusiasm she has given to Buckland Dinham WI.
“Buckland Dinham WI would love to increase their membership in their centenary year. They meet on the first Tuesday of each month in the village hall at 7.30pm and usually have a speaker. They also organise outings. Whether you are young or old, do join. They are always open to new ideas. They also hold a craft day in the village hall, usually on the last Saturday of the month from 10am. It only costs £3, take a packed lunch.
“Take whatever you want to do, sewing, knitting, weaving, crochet, card making, jewellery making etc. Or just join in for a chat and a coffee. You do not have to live in Buckland Dinham to be a member or to be a member to come to the craft days.
“You will be made very welcome and it is a great way to make new friends. Contact 0333 011 2682 or 01373 474604.”
